Main conditions

  • Stable, regular and sufficient own resources during the five-year period, or support by a family member during the last five years
  • French language knowledge at B1 level
  • Passing the test on the principles of the French Republic

Renewal

  • Renewed every 10 years for a further 10-year period

Right to work

  • No restrictions: salaried and self-employed professional activity is permitted without a separate work authorization

Rights in other EU countries

  • Allows applications for residence permits in most EU countries under a simplified procedure for work, business, study or other purposes, subject to the national law of the host country
