Road map

First D visa: 1 year
First residence permit: 1 year
Subsequent residence permits: 4 years, subject to successful activity
After 5 years: a 10-year resident card and/or citizenship

Dependent family members

Adults: financially independent status, followed by a resident card.
Children: after the first one-year D visa, a residence permit may be issued for up to five years until age 18. Later documents depend on the child’s age at entry and future plans.
